Abigail hails from the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up contra dancing, fiddling, and scraping her shins on tree trunks in the verdant woods of coastal Washington State.
After studying ethnomusicology and sustainable food systems in New England for a while, she returned to the Northwest and worked in the woods for a few years before settling in the Washington, D.C. area. Here, she helps produce folk festivals, plays music, calls dances, tells the occasional yarn, and makes anything into art.
For FY2021, Abigail has received a Folklife Apprenticeship Grant through the Maryland States Arts Council to study bluegrass fiddle with master fiddler, Rickie Simpkins. Thank you MSAC! To discover more about the Maryland State Arts Council and how they impact Maryland, visit msac.org
